Muralist and painter Herberth Romero entered a local art competition to win a cash prize. Instead, he won a solo exhibition at the Workhouse Arts Center, formerly the notorious and violent Lorton Reformatory where Herberth’s father began his life sentence. A collage of archival and original footage, GUESS WHERE YOU’RE GOING is a film about the discomforts of preserving memory.
As of April 2026, GUESS WHERE YOU'RE GOING has been screened at seven festivals, and won awards for Best Film, Best Documentary, and Best Editing.
In addition to its festival screenings, in the summer of 2026, GUESS WHERE YOU'RE GOING will be screened at Rhizome in D.C., Eunoia Cinema House in Mount Rainier, Maryland, and the Workhouse Arts Center in Lorton, Virginia. In the fall of 2026, it will be screened at the Corcoran School of Art in Washington, D.C., and at the Parkway Theater in Baltimore. It will also be screened in the spring of 2027 in Takoma, Maryland as part of the City of Takoma's Arts and Humanities Film Screenings.
